Join us for a unique Bayan Retreat designed for women interested in exploring yoga, spiritual meditation and reflections inspired by the stories of Muslim women. A woman’s body experiences four distinct seasons, yet in our modern world we lack rituals and space to explore the meaning of each with intention and without judgement. Often our ideas about each are shaped by the needs and wants of others. In this all-inclusive retreat we will meaningfully explore these phases.

Taking place in mid-September on a beautiful waterfront residence in Maryland, we will observe and prepare for changing seasons as the Autumnal Equinox marks the moment of equilibrium between night and day. What divine and spiritual insights can we draw, what meaning does this moment hold for us? During the retreat we will create space for each to explore these questions and reflect on how we listen and adapt to shifting seasons in our lives. What practices do we cultivate to prepare for letting go of what is no longer thriving, and align our spirit towards new insights and purpose?
During yoga practices and meditation we will explore movement and rest and how the balance of each shifts our thoughts, our physical and emotional bodies and our relationships. During the retreat, participants will experience the sensations of sound bath and have the opportunity to experience a yogic nap or nidra – a guided meditation into a restful state.
Prior knowledge and experience practicing yoga or meditation is not a prerequisite or required. Yoga props including mats, straps, blocks, bolsters and eye masks will be available for use during the retreat. In the context of this Bayan retreat, yoga and meditative activities are not treated as religious practices, but serve as tools for pursuing holistic health, mindfulness, and greater self-awareness, and building community among women of diverse backgrounds.

Space is limited to up to 12 people who will be housed in rooms that each have ONE double bed (shared by immediate family members only per double-occupancy), or up to 6 individuals who will have their own private room with an applicable single supplement fee.

Transfers are available at an additional cost to those who arrive between 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 15th, and to those departing after 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 20th.
